Information Evening for parents of Year 5 students
On Saturday 8th March Calday Grange Grammar School took part in the National RoboCup competition. RoboCup is an international robotics competition founded in 1997. The aim is to promote robotics and Artificial Intelligence research, by offering a publicly appealing, but formidable challenge. The team from Calday battled their way through the various stages to be crowned winners. The team are now eligible to compete in the RoboCup Junior International Final, part of the International RoboCup Competition to be held in João Pessoa in Brazil.
The competition takes place in late July, shortly after the FIFA World Cup finishes. To participate at International level would provide students with an amazing opportunity not only academically but also culturally. However as you might expect the road to Brazil is a long and very expensive one. Unfortunately, the competition does not provide funding towards the £10,000 needed to cover flights and accommodation for the group.
Whilst the team will organise many fundraising events in school to try and raise as much money as possible towards the cost of the trip, it is hoped that there may be local and national companies who could offer financial help to make the dream become a reality.
The students involved are Josh Rodgers, Jamie Mackintosh, Ben Russell, Alejo Vega from year 9 and Callum Mackintosh from year 7.

Male voice choir concert tickets available, the main proportion of the proceeds to go to the school charity Refilwe.
The Rotary Club of Heswall are staging a male voice choir concert on Saturday May 31st at 7.30pm in Heswall Hall. Last year a similar concert was a sell out, so tickets must be purchased early. Heswall Rotary have kindly decided that the main beneficiary of the proceeds will be Refilwe, the orphanage in South Africa that Calday supports. The money raised will help Refilwe directly in many ways, including giving abandoned babies a home to live in and enabling disabled children to attend school. Tickets are £15 from Mervyn on 0151 342 3410.
