MORE INFO ABOUT HOW TO DONATE BELOW
Calday Grange Grammar School has a long tradition of supporting a wide variety of charities and our staff and students always take pride in responding to need where they see it and at short notice.
Each year we choose within our school House system a local charity to support, with the aim of raising as much money as we can.
Last year we raised a staggering £31,000 for the following charities:
- Jeans 4 Genes £2,414
- Children in Need-Rickshaw challenge £4,129
- Refilwe £10,068
- Bloodwise £11,594
- STEM £3000
In the last few years, we have donated towards Jeans 4 Genes, Clatterbridge Cancer Charity and Wirral Mind. Recently one of our pupils Luke Percy was involved in the cycling for ‘The Rickshaw Challenge’ and the response was tremendous, our school raised over £4000! A massive £53 million was raised overall for Children in Need. At Christmas time, we support the ‘Superwhite Christmas Toy appeal’, run through Tranmere Rovers. Over 240 gifts of toys and books were donated; these are given out across the Wirral to disadvantaged children. Students also made up over 100 ‘Shoe Boxes of Love’, which is linked to the ‘Whitechapel’ project, these are given to the homeless and vulnerable in Wirral.
This year Calday is supporting 2 local charities in the run up to Chrismas. In the past we have collected 100's of items and provided hampers to people in the area and we would like to do that again this year. The charities we are supporting are:
Tranmere Rovers and their Super White Christmas Appeal
Its heartbreaking to realise that 1 in 4 children in the Merseyside area are living in poverty and many will wake up on Christmas Day to no gifts or presents to open. This year we are working alongside Tranmere Rovers and their Super White Christmas Appeal to try and make sure that all children in the area have something to open this year. We're asking you to buy an extra present that we can give to a disadvantaged local child to make their Christmas morning special. We need new and unwrapped gifts suitable for children and young people aged 0-18 years and they can be dropped off at Calday Grange Grammar School Reception. Last year we collected over 200 toys - hopefully we can beat that this year.
The deadline is Tuesday 18th December
Shoebox Full of Love
The Shoebox of love appeal is for homeless people in the area (and their pets). The idea is you either fill a shoebox - or a giftbag with items from the lists on the right and the charity will pass them on.Please write on the box/bag who the gift is for (e.g. Male or Femail - Adult, Child, Teenager or Pet). Please do NOT include: sharp objects, tobacco, drugs or any item which contains alcohol (incl. anti-bac hand gel).
Calday has supported the Refilwe Community Project in South Africa for over 10 years, raising money for disadvantaged children in the area of Lanseria, Johannesburg and taking students there every year. Please click on the link to find out more about the Refilwe Community Project .
