Students Visit Anchorage Nursing Home

A group of Year 13 girls have been attending the Anchorage Nursing Home in Hoylake every week with Mrs Owen since September and have formed strong relationships with residents, many of whom have Alzheimer's or other forms of Dementia.

On the last day of term the girls went and provided a Christmas party for the residents.

The girls performed carols (wonderfully supported by Tom Donnan, a former Calday student, on piano). They sang and danced with residents, made paper chains, created a Christmas tree board, where the residents added their own stars, and played games. We were also joined by Ben Harris who provided a magic show for everyone. It was a really positive experience for everyone and a magical start to Christmas.

Our team of 20 girls will continue to visit several times each fortnight until the summer. We would also like to say a big thank you to the Co-op for supporting our venture, providing mince pies, cakes, chocolate and mulled wine for our party.
